SMART goals are empowering and give a roadmap to achieve the goal. What makes a goal SMART? It is:
- Specific
- Measurable
- Attainable
- Realistic
- Timely

- Maintain a healthy weight.
- Move every day – walk more, sit less.
- Eat a diet rich in whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and beans.
- Eat limited amounts of processed and fast foods.
- Limit red and processed meats.
- Set boundaries on sugar-sweetened drinks.
- Moderate alcohol consumption.
- Do not use supplements to protect against cancer.
